London Ethnic | Sustainable Fashion Show 2017

Blog Title

With the increased awareness of the unsustainability of the fashion industry, London Ethnic has hosted an intimate reception for press and buyers on the opening night of London Fashion Week, showcasing some of London’s emerging designers at the Terrace Pavilion of the Houses of Parliament.  The event was created to allow the fashion crowd to enjoy a night before the busy week ahead with a glass of wine, canapes and to see designers who embody London Ethnic’s ethical values at one of the most iconic buildings in London.

All showcased labels ‘Polosophia’, ‘Karen Gold’ and ‘Diaso London’ are ethical & sustainable brands based in London who produce in the UK. The catwalk showcased bright African patterns, lace silhouettes & story-telling garments in a natural & floral makeup moodboard, all put together in ethical fabrics. Attendees, including well-known ethical fashion advocates like Baroness Lola Young, learnt more about the designers inspirations & background work through interviews with them before their catwalk shows. “Congrats to all @LondonEthnic promoting diversity & sustainability in LFW. Lovely show in Houses of Parliament.” (Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey)”

About London Ethnic

London Ethnic is a fashion house celebrating the best of London Fashion. The company supports emerging designers and established labels and is driven by ethical and sustainable principles in fashion. London Ethnic helps brands from the initial stages of design, pattern cutting and sample making through production to promoting designs using a personal PR approach and ultimately having them showcased and sold.

London Ethnic is a member of the “Fashion Association of Britain”, “The Ethical Fashion Forum”, “Made in Britain” organisation, the “Make It British” organisation and an official partner of UK’s Parliament Week. We support the charity ‘Labour Behind The Label’ and ‘The Rana Plaza Trust Fund’. We have hosted events to commemorate the Rana Plaza disaster annually and have been supporters of ‘Fashion Revolution Week’ since its inception. We also support ‘Global’s Make Some Noise’ Charity that provides opportunities for young people in the UK. If you’re a charity or event organiser contact us about future collaborations by emailing events@londonethnic.com

Ultimately we provide a platform for a wide range of upcoming and distinguished UK fashion designers to help from the initial stages from pattern cutting and sample making through to promoting their designs and ultimately having them showcased, produced and sold. We carefully consider all portfolios and select designers with the most potential who produce (or desire to produce) authentic British fashion made in the UK. Our collections reflect the diversity and vibrancy of London’s soul – from the classic tailoring of Saville Row to the edgy Shoreditch street-style. Every month we highlight a handful of our favourite new collections and showcase them in our designer marketplace, where they can be ordered and delivered to you.

At London Ethnic, we aim to be true to our British roots by reflecting the diversity and traditions that make London great. We uphold high ethical standards. We provide authentic London Fashion by ensuring all our pieces are produced in Britain, which also helps local fashion designers, textile workers and machinists. None of London Ethnic’s clothes are produced in a sweat-shop. By producing in Britain, we can regularly visit and examine the working conditions of our clothes-makers and manufacturers and help to stem the exploitation of workers.

We have organised events as part of the official London Fashion Week schedule, on the official schedule for Fashion Revolution Week and for the UK’s Parliament Week. We support and collaborate with designers and event planners on events ranging from workshops, catwalk shows, pop-up boutiques, seminars, fashion shows, networking parties, buyers receptions, showcases and more. Check out our events page to see a flavour of our upcoming events.
