It is never just a hairstyle. It is always a statement. Rose Weitz, sociologist at the Arizona State University tells us that the way we wear our hair shows the way we want to present ourselves to the world. That, furthermore, shows how important the hair is to our sense of identity. You don’t need a scientist to tell you that your hair is a big part of your look. So, if you want to complete your trendy, urban appearance, here are five cool styles to help you with that.
The Legendary Bob
There are different ways you can wear your bob haircut. It can be a bit messy or it can be all about the straight lines framing your face. Two things are in common for all the versions of this hairstyle– firstly, it means cutting your hair, so that it doesn’t cover up your neck. Secondly, it looks awesome. Rihanna showed up on Ellen’s show sporting an amazing blunt bob. Her hair is cut entirely to equal length, reaching only an inch or two below her jawline. She has a simple parting in the middle and it seems her strong, thick hair is blow-dried to the inside. Bold, simple and effective.
The Space Pixie Style
You will need a little bit more time than usual to get ready, but once you do, this hairstyle will make you the futuristic queen of the urban jungle. For this style, you need to have short hair that’s cut shorter at the back than at the front. It works best with fine hair. You need to make a deep parting on your damp hair, already prepared with mousse. The left side should be styled downward neatly. All you need now is to fluff and spike a small portion in the back and fortify it with some hairspray
The Retro Vamp for Longer Hair
Bangs are trendy this year and you cannot go wrong with them. But, if you want to add some flair, you need to try this retro vamp hairstyle. Your bangs need to be thick and neat and they need to be cut in the “V” shape in the middle of your forehead. The rest of your long hair should be curled inward, vertically, using a big barrel curling iron.
Smoky Shades on Your Long Hair
If you have that sleek and straight hair that reaches down well past your shoulders, you don’t need any edgy haircuts. All you need is a deep side parting that will add volume to your hair. Before making a parting, straighten your hair with a ghd hair straightener and fit the hair behind your ear on one side. Quite simple, right? Some may say boring, even. However, what’s missing from the cut itself is added by the colour. Go to a trendy salon and ask for a smoky lilac hair transition. It will go from deep smoky purple shade on the top of your head that grows lighter, ending with pale lavender hue.
Mid-Size Stunning Ombre
Perhaps ombre is not the latest trend in hairstyling, but it’s still pretty much alive and it is not even close to being over. Having mid-length hair can sometimes be frustrating for those who want to grow it. But, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy it. Cut your hair a bit shorter in the back and leave it a bit longer around your face. Curl it vertically, so that you get those loose and messy curls. They will look amazing on a quality made ombre that goes from red to blonde. This style looks youthful, trendy and urban.
While mid-length bob might be the trendiest hairstyle this season, it doesn’t mean that you need to cut your hair or be desperate since you’ve been sporting a pixie for years. There’s something for everybody in 2016. The general idea is that you should emphasize the cut or the colour. That way, your style will be special but it won’t go over the top.

My all time favourite is the quirky Space Pixie cut <3 How I wish my hair could stay in this stunning pixie style! But sadly my hair is just waaaaay too soft and thin to style ;(, all I can do now is to oooh and aaah at drop-dead-gorgeous pixie cuts that I’ll never be able to carry! But on the bright side, I could always still dye my hair in various shades! TeeHee. <3
